EMOS spol. s r.o. has become a supplier of coaxial cables to CERN,
the European Organisation for Nuclear Research. Based in Switzerland, CERN’s laboratory for particle physics, equipped with first-class technology, is the largest research centre for particle physics in the world. The organisation is devoted to establishing partnerships with European countries in the area of original scientific research. The laboratory investigates the composition of matter, but also plays a vital role in developing future technologies. The main mission of CERN is research oriented toward discovering the smallest building blocks of our world and the laws they follow. Its researchers are renowned for developing a method comprising experiments involving mutual collisions of particles on a device known as a cyclotron.
Another of their experiments is a project called
Baby MIND, a spectrometer used for investigating the behaviour of unstable elementary particles known as muons. Due to the exacting requirements and the precise specification of all devices used in the laboratory, extreme demands are placed on the quality of supplied components, including coaxial cables. EMOS cables passed a demanding selection process comprising a series of tests. The evaluation procedure mainly focused on copper purity, manufacturing quality and the functioning of cables across the entire spectrum required. The partnership represents an exciting opportunity for EMOS in its capacity as a supplier for this type of research, with a promising outlook for further collaboration between the two companies.
